JC Shovels began as a volunteer initiative and today it still connects volunteers with seniors and disabled residents in need of assistance with snow-shoveling in the winter. The program matched volunteers with residents that live in or close to the volunteer's neighborhood, whenever possible, to shovel out senior or disabled resident's within 24 hours of the snow stopping. This program is now ran by the Jersey City Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). Click here for more program information!
