Grace Church Van Vorst is located at 39 Erie Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets in Jersey City, NJ.

Grace Van Vorst Community Services (GCS) was established as a non-profit organization in 2002 by Grace Church Van Vorst as part of the Church’s longstanding commitment to community outreach.

Since its inception, GCS’s Breakfast Plus program has been a warm, nourishing weekend touchstone, vital to the health and well-being of its over two hundred homeless and food insecure guests. Every Saturday and Sunday of the year from 7:00am to 9:00am, GCS volunteers serve a hot, delicious and nutritious breakfast with a generous portion of respect to our guests on a bare bones budget. Everyone who comes hungry to Breakfast Plus leaves fed in body and spirit.

GCS is also a critical part of the lives of the approximately seventy senior citizens who come each week- day morning, year-round, to the Grace  Senior Center for Healthy Living (GSCHL) for food, fellowship, activities and community. Senior Citizens have created an extended family at GSCHL, providing one another with companionship as they participate in activities that nurture a healthy mind and body such as Line Dancing, Yoga, Zumba, Tai Chi, Creative Writing, Quilting, Arts & Crafts, Crochet and more. Members of the GSCHL “family” know when a member is facing particularly difficult challenges, setting off a chain of communication, support and help. The GSCHL also runs on a barebones budget.

Without GCS, hundreds of homeless, food insecure, elderly and isolated people in Jersey City would be without hot meals, community and hope.
