Description & History

United Rescue Jersey City is an initiative designed and administered by Jersey City Medical Center EMS to enable citizens throughout Jersey City to help their neighbors before an ambulance arrives.

The program is modeled after and built in collaboration with the highly successful United Hatzalah of Israel. A central system locates the nearest volunteer through GPS technology, and dispatches them at the same time as an ambulance.

As a volunteer, an individual will:

- Undergo a 80 hour medical training course
- Receive a GPS smart phone app
- Receive medical equipment
- Respond to local emergency calls and provide aid to residents and visitors in Jersey City.
