Description & History

Hudson County CASA recruits and trains everyday, ordinary people to work with local foster children. CASA volunteers get to know their assigned child and gather information from everyone involved in the child’s life, including family members, teachers, doctors, attorneys, and social workers.

Volunteers use the information they gather to make recommendations to a judge to secure needed services like therapy, mentoring, tutoring, and enrichment activities.  Volunteers typically spend between 10-20 hours per month working on their cases.  Most cases close within approximately 18 months. The ultimate goal is to find a safe and permanent home for each child.
