Who We Are
Keep Jersey City Beautiful (KJCB) is the first affiliate of Keep America Beautiful (KAB) in the State of New Jersey. KAB is a leading national nonprofit that inspires and educates people to take action every day to improve and beautify their community by mobilizing volunteers for civic engagement. In honor of Earth Day, the City of Jersey City and its community partners will once again be hosting its annual Great Jersey City CleanUp for a fourth year. During this citywide initiative, residents are encouraged to clean parks and streets, for example, maintenance on tree pits and planters, while also separating recyclables from non-recyclable items.
Through the KAB leadership, the City of Jersey City has spearheaded other special initiatives under the KJCB umbrella such as Stop the Drop Anti-Litter Program and the Jersey City Mural Arts Program.
Why the Great Jersey City Cleanup Needs You
The organization seeks to educate, motivate, and activate people to recycle more and recycle right by improving recycling awareness and participation. We provide tools to inform people how and where to make recycling happen and most importantly why to recycle - transforming the act of recycling into a daily social norm. Keep America Beautiful encourages all event organizers, volunteers and participants to use the #cleanYOURblock and #DoBeautifulThings hashtags on all Great American Cleanup and related social media posts.
