Volunteer opportunity description

Better Tomorrows at Lafayette offers residents an on-site free After School Program for children. We are currently looking for new volunteers to help children maintain their focus and complete their homework on a timely manner between the hours of 3:30pm - 5:30pm.  The children are required to complete their homework before participating in any activities.

As a Volunteer Tutor, you will be expected to:

• Commit to at least 1 day of the week (2 hours only).

• Assist children in reading, writing, and other literacy-based skills, and Math.

• Assist the coordinator in gathering materials, copies, supervising children, etc.

• Complete a volunteer log following each session.

• You may have the opportunity to share your own special skills to the children upon approval from the Social Service Coordinator.

• Direct any questions or concerns to the Social Service Coordinator.

• Notify the Coordinator in advance if you are expecting to be absent. In the event of an unexpected absence, call the Coordinator as soon as possible so that a replacement volunteer may be found.

Requirements

Photo ID required. 18+ volunteers may go through a background check.

 

High school students needing to fulfill community service hours are welcome. Please have School ID.
